next week and nationals

Hello everyone!!

I met with my t-shirt and designed a new t-shirt so we can have a second “jags” shirt for nationals.  This one is black with royal letters that just say “GO JAGS!!”   I am selling them for $10 til the end of our season and then they will go up to our normal tshirt price of $12.   This one will also be awesome to wear to ANY jags sporting event so tell your friends!!

I am taking all of our merch to be sold at Bibliomania during our off season.  Sue is willing to sell them and we can share profits with her but that helps us make money for our program year round which is always nice.

Home School Nationals is offering a discount on T-shirts if you order by Monday.  They have LONG SLEEVE black t’s.  I am thinking that’s pretty cool!!

Heres the link:

Lastly, the NOAH football team lost one of their coaches on Monday.  Malcolm Andrews passed away suddenly after being hospitalized with an infection it quickly moved to his lungs and he died.  We found out during practice and quickly took a break and prayed for the family.  Coach Joe has put together a memorial fund to help with expenses the Andrews family will be facing.  His wife will be raising their 5 children alone now.

Eddie, Dave and I decided we would like to donate $50 of our general fund to this memorial as the NOAH volleyball team.  I trust you all are in agreement with that.  If you would like to do more you can mail checks to: One Hope Ministries 7123 East 7th Street Tulsa, OK 74112 marked “memorial fund”

A big thank you to all of you for being so AWESOME!!

For those of you who are still waiting on picture fixes… I am sorry.  I am emailing him a list weekly of all the fixes and that’s about as much “nagging” as I am comfortable doing.

tourney info

Well we heard back from Coach Dave Yordy about the Wichita Tournament this Saturday and he did have to cancel the Junior High and Varsity portion of the tournament.

After discussing it with our Coach Dave and Coach Eddie we have decided that since JV is going to Nationals AND has had more matches than the Junior High Team and Varsity Team, we would be declining the invitation.

We also canceled the Saturday, Oct 9th game with Oklahoma City Storm.  So please make that adjustment on your schedule.

The upside….. you all have two weekends off.

ALSO: since the money from the concession stand was going to be divided up between all of us for traveling expenses since we were ALL going to this tournament we have decided to put it towards things like MORE balls (we are losing an old one almost every week) That way the money still benefits all 3 teams.

See you all tonight!!

week of Sept 27th

Hello my darlings!!

I still dont have anything new to share about this coming tournament weekend.  I will call Coach Dave Yordy on Monday.  I am sorry again for the lack of information and any inconvenience and disappointment this has caused.

I have finally completed the “senior gift” project I have been working on with Alan Butler only to find out that there is a two to four week turn over rate.  So…… I am sorry to say I will NOT be giving the seniors their gifts on Monday.  However, I have to believe that once they receive them they wont care that they had to wait.  (please don’t care)

And here is your week:

Monday, Sept 27th -  Senior Tribute Night

Our plan for that night is as follows:

6pm Seniors play the rest of the teams.  (Seniors, you get to pick two additional players to play on your “team”) for a best out of 5!!

Immediately after the game we will have Senior Presentations. Please have your senior survey filled out and ready to hand me when you get there.

You can also have a presentation board on display if you would like.

Then dinner and fellowship.

We will provide pizza

Junior High:  please bring salad or veggie tray or finger food type thing

JV please bring desserts

Varsity bring drinks (I will bring a huge thing of water)

Tuesday, Sept 28 -  Regular practice

Thursday, Sept 30 – Regular practice

Saturday, Oct 2 -  As of right now a long day in Wichita for hopefully all three teams.

Go Jags!!

week of Sept 20th

Hello NOAH jags family!!

First, let me say that after walking out on the football field for 3 years now with the volleyball team, last night was THE best turn out and most fun we have had.  I am thinking that throwing “duckies” was the best idea I have EVER had!!  I joked that every NOAH AD is saying “great! Now we have to buy duckies every year!!” haha  thank you to all who made it super fun and stuck around to watch the football Jags completely annihilate the Stilwell Indians.  I read on Facebook this morning a mom said “going to NOAH football games is like attending a small town game. We all might belong to different groups, different churches and different teaching methods but at the game we are ONE community” I could NOT agree more!!

So here is our busy week:

MONDAY:  Regular practice

TUESDAY:     We play Metro again!!!

Junior High 5pm

JV  6pm

Due to losing a player mid season we have a need scoreboard. If you are willing to fill these spot please let me know!!

Don’t forget to let your athlete know if she was assigned line judging!!

Next Monday night is Senior Night.  So to my 4 seniors, please fill out the attached senior survey and give it to me.

Our plan for that night is as follows:

6pm  Seniors play the rest of the teams.  (Seniors, you get to pick two additional players to play on your “team”) for a best out of 5!!

Immediately after the game we will have Senior Presentations (create a board if you want to telling your story)

Then dinner and fellowship.

We will provide pizza

Junior High:  please bring salad or veggie tray or finger food type thing

JV please bring desserts

Varsity bring drinks (I will bring a huge thing of water)

Hello families:

This week seems a bit less hectic I think. No home games but we have to travel on a week night. What was your athletic director THINKING?!!! (hahaha)

Monday: normal practice

Tuesday: Junior High and JV play Riverfield Country Day School.

Junior High 5pm

JV 6pm

2433 West 61st Street South

This could possibly be the most beautiful campus we play or maybe just I think so because they have farm animals on campus!!

Thursday: JV and Varsity travel to Oklahoma City again

Church of the Harvest.

6800 N Bryant Ave. OKC,Ok

JV starts the night at 5pm

Varsity will play back to back games against NORMAN and STORM

I am sure NORMAN will bring their “A” game and want a victory this time around… which just means we will answer it with an “I don’t think so!!”

Friday: is the NOAH Football home game that we are going to introduced and allowed to walk across the field.

(and throw rubber duckies into the crowd)

7:30 is when the game begins and our part is during half time. (so probably 8ish??)

At North Intermediate High School in Broken Arrow (most of their home games are played at South)

808 East College Street, Broken Arrow

Side notes: I am working on hotels for our tournaments next month and should have that information ready in the next week. As of right now we have $304 in our traveling expenses account. I am going to put that towards the tournament we are all attending in Wichita so we all benefit!!

Dear Coach,

We are so glad that your team has decided to attend the 2010 National Christian HomeSchool Volleyball Championships. Last year when I met with the volleyball coaches at Nationals I promised them that we were committed to growing the National Volleyball Tournament and I want to assure that things are going well in that area:

· We expect between 40-60 volleyball teams at Nationals this year in Springfield

· We also expect more between 125-150 teams at the Fall Championship (all sports combined)

Here is a quick check list for you:

1. All players need to register. This is an insurance requirement and it is required. If players register online before 10/15 there is no fee, after that there is a $5.00 late registration fee. Please send an email to all your players and tell them to go to http://nchclive.com and click on player registration – the sooner the better.

2. We will be posting updates on NCHCLive in two locations:

A. General Information – on the Fall Championship Page

B. Coaches Information – on the coaches page (under the information link - setting it up this weekend)

It is our goal to do everything we can to support the growth and improvement of HomeSchool Volleyball. Here are some ways we can work together:

n Use HSLive365 to promote your team -- If you have not set up live game updates for your team you are really missing out – see details below

n If you're bringing a varsity team you can bring a JV or JH team for only $50. We know that one of the keys to helping build a solid long term program is to expose your players and parents to Nationals and we are willing to underwrite most of the cost to help you do that.

n If you play other HomeSchool teams encourage them to come, we scheduled the National Tournament so that it wouldn't conflict with any end of the season tournament, so that teams could attend more than one event if they wanted.

Live Game Updates --

  • There is no charge, or fees
  • The kids love it
  • Parents that can't make a game appreciate it
  • It builds commodore between teams/sports in your program
  • A parent can post the updates on to your private page from their cell phone

Here are examples two programs that are using it:

Tulsa NOAH - is using it for football and volleyball -- Click Here

OKC Storm – is using it for volleyball and cross country – Click Here

To join contact me, I can get you set up in a day or two -- All I need is your logo.

I think that about wraps up the week ahead!!

What another set of great games we had today!!  Winning is certainly NOT everything but it is tons more fun than losing!! Well done girls, well done.
